The New York Yankees have sent former first-round pick Ian Kennedy, a right-handed starter, to Arizona and outfield prospect Austin Jackson and reliever Phil Coke to Detroit in return for center fielder Curtis Granderson, an All Star who hit 30 home runs and batted .249 last season for the Tigers.
The Tigers would also get right-handed starter Max Scherzer and hard-throwing lefty reliever Daniel Schlereth from the Diamondbacks, while Arizona would get right-handed starter Edwin Jackson from Detroit.
